We hope you get the picture… we gather as little or as much data about our users as they decide to share, we are 100% open about this and try to explain it in the simplest and clearest ways possible, and above all WE RESPECT YOUR PRIVACY!
As an example all METADATA embedded in images to be uploaded to LENSHOOD is copied to the app on your device for verification & editing during the upload process, by default we toggle OFF location & GPS information embedded within files for safe guarding. You decide which METADATA is assigned against an image database within the app, which you can update or remove at anytime
The original file never leaves your device, an entirely new image file void of any METADATA is created before it is transferred to our servers (any resizing & compressing is performed before uploading). The uploaded file also has an entirely new & unique name based upon the server date & time. This way even if we suffered a data breach or hack, all image files are void of any METADATA
Demographic information is incredibly valuable & very useful for us, we do gather information, such as regional or country specific statistics so we can assess & balance peak times, loading on servers, busy times of days & days of the week etc all of which is anonymous. We do have voluntary demographic questionnaires which we find invaluable, these are purely voluntary and any user can delete their submissions anytime. From time to time we have polling & questionnaires which can be anonymous & onymous, but this is always clearly stated, and again, any user can delete their submissions without question
